Hearst appoints Julia Goodwin as Director of Homes

Hearst UK has appointed Julia Goodwin, former Editor of House Beautiful, as Director of Homes.

In her new role, Julia will assume strategic responsibility for Hearst’s Homes Group. Drawing on the wealth of knowledge and expertise built during her 11 years as of House Beautiful, Julia will leverage her strong industry relationships and editorial insight to develop market-first partnership initiatives which help to grow Hearst’s business, says Hearst.

Under her tenure as Editor, Julia has led the development of successful commercial brand extensions including a range of sofas and beds with DFS, a selection of blinds, curtains and fabrics with Hillarys and a premier collection of custom-built houses with Futureform. Julia will report directly into Sharon Douglas, Chief Brand Officer, Lifestyle & Homes.

Sharon said: “Julia Goodwin is a homes expert through and through and has that magical combination of brilliant editorial expertise combined with a strong commercial instinct. Having edited House Beautiful for the past 11 years, she has an in-depth knowledge of the sector, strong client relationships and lots of experience developing successful brand extensions. I’m very much looking forward to working with Julia as we strive to further diversify our revenues.”

The news follows Hearst’s strategic decision to bring Country Living, House Beautiful and ELLE Decoration under a Homes Group and Good Housekeeping, Red and Prima under a Lifestyle Group. Hearst will announce the Executive Editors of the individual Lifestyle and Homes titles in due course.
