Hearst UK announces Key Sales Roles

Hearst Magazines UK, the Hearst Corporation’s principal UK business, has announced the appointment of its new key sales heads.

The company which began a review of its business following the acquisition of Hachette Filipacchi UK in August this year, has appointed Sales Directors to support its expanded commercial operation and portfolio of brands.

The roles, together with Hearst Magazines’ recently appointed Group Publishing Directors and Group Commercial Director, will have responsibility for advertising revenue across all platforms and formats.

Announcing the new commercial team today, Matt Salmon (pictured), Group Commercial Director, Hearst Magazines UK, says: “These new appointments are a powerful and important addition to our expanded business. As the most senior commercial role in the newly created brand groups, they will have responsibility for advertising revenue, across all platforms and formats. By aligning our Sales Directors with the individual brand groups, we are able to offer clients and agencies direct and easier access to our vast portfolio of magazines, websites and branded product.”

Within the Luxury Group:

Hearst Magazines UK has appointed Jacquie Euwe as Sales Director for Harper’s Bazaar & Esquire and Jacqui Greaves as Sales Director for ELLE, ELLE Decoration and Red. Jacquie Euwe was previously Associate Publisher for Harper’s Bazaar and acting sales head for Esquire. Jacqui Greaves was previously Commercial Director for ELLE at Hachette Filipacchi UK.

Hayley Granston has been appointed Sales Director for the Young Women’s Group comprising Cosmopolitan, Company and Zest. Hayley was previously Associate Publisher on SHE magazine.

Within the Lifestyle Group:

Hearst Magazines UK will recruit a Sales Director with responsibility for Good Housekeeping, Prima, Prima Baby and Psychologies in due course. In the meantime, Ceri Antony has agreed to continue as acting Sales Director.

• David Parker has been appointed Publisher/Sales Director with advertising sales and day to day publishing responsibility for Country Living and You & Your Wedding. David was previously Associate Publisher on Country Living and Coast.

• Chris Tarafa has been appointed Publisher/Sales Director with advertising sales and day to day publishing responsibility for House Beautiful and Coast. Previously Chris was Associate Publisher on House Beautiful

• Jessica Myers has been appointed Sales Director for the Weeklies Group comprising – All About Soap, Best, Inside Soap, Real People and Reveal. Jessica was previously Group Ad Director for the NatMag weeklies.

• Jonny Asfaw has been appointed Sales Director for the digital pureplay business, comprising allaboutyou, babyexpert, digitalspy, handbag, netdoctor and sugarscape. Jonny was previously Digital Ad Director at Hachette Filipacchi UK.

• Duncan Chater continues as Publisher/Sales Director of Hearst Magazines UK joint venture, NatMag-Rodale which comprises Men’s Health, Runner’s World, fetcheveryone.co.uk and triathletesworld.co.uk.

Additionally, Hearst Magazines UK has confirmed the following key commercial appointments.

• Greg Witham will continue in his role as Trading & Key Accounts Director for Hearst UK Cross Media – our central advertising unit.

• Cameron Dunn will continue as Sales Director for the Hearst Magazines UK Direct business with responsibility for Classified, Inserts and Digital Directories.

• Keely McIntosh continues as Regional Sales Director, based in Manchester.

Hearst Magazines UK, which publishes 23 magazines and 22 digital assets, launched earlier this month following the completion by Hearst Corporation of the UK portion of its international transaction with Lagardère SCA.

The deal united two of the UK’s biggest publishing houses, National Magazine Company and Hachette Filipacchi UK Ltd, and the combined business rebranded as Hearst Magazines UK.

Hearst Magazines UK is now one of the biggest media players in the country, reaching more than 16 million adults in print and 20 million monthly unique users online. At the recent ABCs (June – December 2010), Hearst Magazines UK took market share on 13 titles of the 21 it released. The business has also grown its subscription base to more than one million.
