Informa raises funds for Haiti

In the 19 days since the Haiti earthquake struck, Informa staff around the world have engaged minds and hearts and dug deep into their pockets to raise £26,725 for the disaster relief in Haiti.

Peter Rigby has announced that Informa will be contributing an additional £20,000 from corporate funds in honour of employees’ caring response, taking the total up to £46,725.

Informa's offices have been involved in a variety of raising and giving strategies including:

• IIR Middle East: Staff have been running up a great total with 2 staff taking part in the Dubai marathon and ten more staff members running 10 km. In total, the Dubai teams raised AED 13,500.

• IIR South Africa: The office supported The Gift Of The Givers in their relief efforts for the Haiti Disaster. The IIR team collected money and non perishables from staff members and these items were sent through to The Gift of the Givers head office to be taken to Haiti on their next mission. Flyers for the Gift of the Givers have also been distributed in IIR SA’s training centre and various other collections are planned as relief efforts continue.

• Informa Support Services in Sarasota Florida, and IIR's Regional Director for Malaysia raised over $400 in bake sale donations.

Keith Brownlie, Informa’s HR and CR Director, said: "Informa's people have jumped to help the people Haiti, as so many others have throughout the world. When we initially told our employees we would match their donations up to £10,000, there was a record number of people donating online and by phone, raising thousands in a matter of 24 hours. We have therefore now doubled our match funding in aid of the Red Cross' efforts to assist the injured and provide relief supplies for those in need."
