iSUBSCRiBE Launches Gift Cards in Clinton Stores

From this month, iSUBSCRiBE, the online magazine and newspaper subscription company will have an in-store retail presence in over 530 Clinton Cards stores across the UK.

In 30 stores, there will be a dedicated ‘Subscription Zone’ featuring 20 different gift cards, from ‘For Her’ and ‘For Brides-to-Be’ to ‘For Geeks’ and ‘For Connoisseurs’; meaning there is a gift solution for everyone.

This “innovative” concept is totally different to traditional magazine subscription retail boxes that are sold for individual magazine brands. The iSUBSCRiBE gift card gives the customer the flexibility to choose between over 1,350 titles available on the website. No other online company in the UK offers this breadth of magazine and newspaper titles, says iSUBSCRiBE.

A smaller version of the concept has been rolled out to a further 500 Clinton Cards stores, with the main Gift Card Mall holding a further 6 iSUBSCRiBE gift cards. All Clinton Cards Gift Card Malls are operated through international payment processing agent, Coinstar.

Brett Smith, Commercial Director of Clinton Cards Plc said, "We are very excited to be offering our customers such an easy to use and innovative gift idea. We see this as a great addition to the already hugely successful gift card programme we run in conjunction with Coinstar."

Chris Grace, Sales & Marketing Director of Coinstar said, “iSUBSCRiBE is another strong product offered by Coinstar. We know that gift card customers are looking for more tailored cards that offer the best present options. We are confident that having a dedicated magazine zone will prove very popular for customers at Clinton Cards.”

According to research carried out by the PPA, Britons are the third biggest spenders per head on consumer magazines in Europe, with the average UK adult buying 22 magazines a year. Nearly nine out of ten UK adults read consumer magazines, proving magazines as a medium are an integral part of the mass population’s entertainment.

Gifting is already a key element of the iSUBSCRiBE service, with nearly 50% of the company’s online sales being gift subscriptions purchased for other people. iSUBSCRiBE’s recent growth in the past year, with a sales increase of over 40%, suggests that magazines are the recession-proof treat that people will always welcome. “Buying presents is sometimes a headache, we have solved that problem with our new gift cards,” said Arabella Gibson, iSUBSCRiBE General Manager. “The gift cards can be topped up with as little or as much as you like.”

The Clinton Cards gift cards initiative comes after iSUBSCRiBE has just launched their revamped website, better showcasing the huge variety of magazines and newspapers that are available. “We are continually innovating and improving our products and services. The in-store gift cards were the natural next offline step,” said Gibson.
