Jim Moray Pre-Releases Album for Songlines Readers

Songlines magazine has announced a world exclusive promotion with its June issue, on sale 30 April. Award-winning British folk singer Jim Moray pre-releases his brand new album, In Modern History, as a free covermount for the title.

Jim’s CD is in addition to the regular 15-track compilation CD that comes with each issue featuring the best world music album releases.

Songlines readers will be the first to hear Jim’s “greatly anticipated” fourth album, which will only be available to buy separately once Songlines’ June issue has gone off-sale.

"There’s a lot to be said for trying new things,” Jim says. “When you’re a few albums in, it’s very hard for people to form a different impression of you.  So I wanted to do something interesting and something that’s exciting in itself… to create an opportunity for people to have the CD in their hand and give it a try.”

Songlines Publisher Paul Geoghegan says, “We're delighted Jim chose Songlines to launch his new album.  He's one of Britain's leading folk artists and we've long had an interest in his music and written about his work.  We'll be working with Jim as media partner of his gigs over the coming months, as well as promoting the June issue at retail internationally, for both newsstand and record trade.  We're also expecting to develop Songlines’ distribution of the issue through new channels and particularly the folk sector, targeting independent record shops and festivals."

The June issue also includes details of the winners of the Songlines Music Awards 2010, along with a guide to UK and overseas festivals.

Songlines, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, has the latest CD reviews, artist interviews, guides to particular world music traditions, travel adventures, beginner's and city guides, frontline reports and concert listings.
