To celebrate this year’s 35th Anniversary of the original film, fans of the iconic cyborg can now build their own T-800 with Hachette’s new partwork collection – The Terminator, which hits retail from 20th February 2019.

With the Terminator collection, fans will collect all the pieces needed to assemble the T-800 endoskeleton (scale 1:2, 93cm height), together with a magazine featuring detailed and illustrated easy to follow step-by-step instructions, and features on the film.

According to Hachette Partworks, the T-800 model is made with an exceptional level of detail and features articulated limbs and LED eyes that light up in an intense red colour and move from right to left via a remote control. The completed model is displayed on a stunning base with a post-apocalyptic design, providing the perfect setting to exhibit your T-800 endoskeleton in different positions.

Originally released in 1984, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (The Terminator), Michael Biehn (Kyle Reese), Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) and written/directed by James Cameron, The Terminator revolutionised science fiction and horror cinema with an apocalyptic vision of the future that showed the dark side of technology and artificial intelligence, say the publishers.

The T-800 Endoskeleton, born from James Cameron’s fever-induced dream in 1982 and brought to life by a special effects team led by Academy Award-winning visual effects specialist Stan Winston (Aliens, Jurassic Park, Predator), has become one of the most famous and influential creations in the history of cinema.

“If ever there was a fully-automated artificially-intelligent combat chassis icon of cinema, it’s the T-800, and the chance to be your own Skynet and assemble and own one of these red-eyed beauties is going to appeal to a lot of people out there,” said Steve White, Senior Editor at Hachette. “The model is incredible and superbly made and stands at nearly one meter tall. The magazine that comes with each issue isn’t just a simple step-by-step guide. It’s going to look deeply into the world of the Terminator, movie robots as a whole and some of the greatest sci-fi films ever made, but also cast an eye over the morals and ethics of AI, drones and many of the other real world systems that are already a significant part of our lives, pondering many of the questions The Terminator raised on its release.”

The Terminator TM Build The T-800 Endoskeleton issue #1 is £1.99 (regular issues £8.99 each) and is available at retailers in the U.K. and Ireland from Wednesday, 20th February 2019.

The collection, which is aimed at men 30+, consists of 120 parts, and, according to distributors Marketforce, the total RSV of one customer who completes the collection is £1,069.
