Men’s Health eBay auction raises £860 for Help For Heroes

Action Man has been doing his bit for some real-life heroes, with a little help from Men’s Health and some leading menswear designers.

An ebay auction of eight of the figures, dressed in specially commissioned bespoke outfits has raised £859.70 for Help for Heroes.

In honour of Action Man’s iconic status the Men’s Health fashion team decided to give him a full-on style makeover. The men’s magazine commissioned a team of leading fashion brands including Topman, Universal Works, Christopher Raeburn, Hackett, Barbour, Evisu and Orlebar Brown to create one-of-a-kind miniature replicas of their Autumn/Winter collections.

Following a six-page photographic shoot for the Men's Health’s September ‘Guide to Style’, the eight Action Man figures, dressed in their specially commissioned bespoke outfits, were auctioned on eBay to raise funds for Help for Heroes, a charity which supports wounded servicemen.

The Action Man figure dressed in a woolen gilet, chambray shirt and chinos by Topman, boots by Camper, a Mudman watch by G-Shock Premium and a satchel by Ally Capellino topped the list with a bid of £142.

The figure sporting a Liddlesdale coat by Barbour, cutaway shirt by Smyth & Gibson, continuity jeans by Evisu, city rucksack by Chapman Bags and desert boots by Clark’s Originals closed at £137.20 and the Action Man doll dressed in Hackett raised £94.

Men’s Health Editor-In-Chief Morgan Rees says, “The Men’s Health eBay Action Man Auction has been a great success, thanks to all the designers who donated their one-of-a-kind pieces to such a worthy charity. It was an honour giving one of our national treasures an up-to-date style makeover, and it was great that we could finish the project by making a small contribution to a wonderful organization like Help For Heroes.”
