New editor for FHM

Bauer Media has announced the appointment of Joe Barnes as Editor of its men's lifestyle magazine FHM.

Joe (pictured), who is currently Editor of Front, will take up the post on 13 June.

Rimi Atwal, Publishing Director of FHM, commented: "Joe’s clear understanding of modern mainstream men, strategic vision and editorial instinct in a multi media world made him the standout candidate for this key role. He is a young talent who will inject fresh thinking and energy into the market, and has a real passion for FHM."

Joe Barnes, Editor of FHM added: "FHM is the ultimate job in men's publishing. I can't wait to get going on it and amplify the brand’s ‘funny, sexy, useful’ values on all its many platforms. I aim to make sure that FHM remains a pioneering brand and a magazine utterly in tune with the wants and needs of young, articulate and aspirational men in Britain.”

As Editor of Front magazine, Joe oversaw a re-launch and gave the title a strong voice and clear brand identity.  Joe joined Front in October 2005 as News Editor and became Editor in October 2006. He has a First Class BA Hons in Journalism from Falmouth College of Arts and after graduating worked as a freelance writer. He has been published in The Guardian, The Sunday Telegraph and The Observer.

According to Bauer: FHM remains a cornerstone of Bauer's Media's commitment to offering consumers a magazine brand portfolio tuned in to 21st century young men. Central to FHM's entertaining and informative content is the celebration of its 'Funny, Sexy, Useful' brand values, which still reach and resonate with millions of 18-34 yr olds every month, not only in print but also adapted and amplified via fhm.com, the brand’s highly successful website which was relaunched recently. Other successful extensions include FHM Collections, FHM Bionic, FHM 100 Sexiest and the recently launched FHM Stand Up Hero – a search for the UK’s funniest stand-up – which was a six-hour broadcast on ITV4.
