New Editor-in-Chief for BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care

Dr Mandeep Bajaj, an expert on diabetes and endocrinology, has been appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care, one of more than 70 specialist journals published by BMJ.

Dr Bajaj: “It will be my endeavour to grow and expand the journal internationally.”

Dr Bajaj succeeds Dr Guillermo Umpierrez, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Clinical Director of the Diabetes and Metabolism Center at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, USA, who has been Editor-in-Chief since 2013.

Dr Bajaj is currently a Professor and the Vice-Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, USA. He is also the Chief of the Section of Endocrinology at Baylor St Luke’s Medical Center and the Medical Director of the Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center Diabetes Program.

Dr Bajaj said: “It will be my endeavour to grow and expand the journal internationally and to publish high-quality innovative research in diabetes.”

BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care is published by BMJ in partnership with the American Diabetes Association. Commenting on the appointment, Christian Kohler, associate publisher of ADA Journals, said “The American Diabetes Association enthusiastically welcomes Dr Bajaj as Editor-in-Chief of Diabetes Research & Care.
