NME expands University reach with Topman 24 nationwide tour

Music brand NME is expanding its student reach by partnering with Topman for the fashion brand’s Topman 24 tour campaign, which sees a series of 24-hour music takeovers at five major UK cities this month.

The Topman 24 Tour in association with NME features a roster of DJs and bands performing at raucous pop-up events in Topman stores and local venues, hosted by celebrity DJ and presenter Nick Grimshaw.

The Strypes and The Amazons are confirmed to hit the road to perform exclusive live gigs, with NME DJs joining the line-up to play sets in participating Topman stores. Nick Grimshaw will also be DJing and will play host to an NME-created music quiz in local venues.

Matthew Chalkley, brand manager, NME says: “NME’s presence at universities continues to grow, with copies of the magazine available every week at over 40 universities during term time, distributed by students acting as brand ambassadors. Our partnership with Topman, for this new series of music takeovers, is another exciting way we can bring brand new music experiences to this key - but notoriously hard to reach - audience. Topman 24 Tour in association with NME, also feeds into our agenda of supporting live music, aiding our audience’s enjoyment of the best new music in some of our favourite venues.”

Jason Griffiths, Topman's Marketing Director, adds: "Music has always been at the heart of Topman and Topman 24 in association with NME continues to serve as a great platform to engage directly with our core student audience by introducing them to the latest in ground-breaking music and fashion."

Topman 24 will visit Cardiff, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds and Edinburgh between 1 March and 15 March.
