Oneshot: Newsweek Beatles Special

The Beatles, a special Newsweek commemorative issue celebrating 50 years since the release of Love Me Do, goes on sale 30 March, priced £8.95.

According to distributors COMAG Specialist: “Although formed two years earlier, 1962 was probably the single most pivotal year for the most influential band of all time. Not only did Ringo Starr join them in this year, but the Beatles also released their first single, Love Me Do, which although only moderately successful (No.17 in the UK charts), established the sound of the group for years to come.

In a special commemorative issue, Newsweek celebrates the ‘Fab Four’, chronicling their meteoric rise and asking why they matter more today than they ever have.

Featuring an exclusive interview with Ringo Starr by noted critic Alan Light, as well as an essay by lifelong groupie Billy Joel. Also featured, celebrity fans pick their favourite Beatles songs, from Ryan Gosling and James Taylor to Brad Pitt and Taylor Swift.

Delving into the Newsweek archives, this special issue will have a full timeline of the group’s eight-year run alongside stunning photo essays of their first American tour.

Newsweek Special issue is a 96-page, perfect-bound, glossy souvenir taking a look back at the legacy, the business, the films, the tours, the ‘Beatlemania’ and of course…the music of the most influential band ever.

Celebrating the men, the music and the memories, Newsweek Special is sure to be a number one hit for fans of this influential, pioneering and enduringly popular band.”
