Phil Alexander appointed Associate Publisher Kerrang! & Mojo

Bauer Media has promoted Mojo Editor In Chief, Phil Alexander, to the newly-created role of Associate Publisher on Bauer's music brands Kerrang! and MOJO - in addition to his current role as Editor-in-Chief.

Phil (pictured) takes up his new role with immediate effect and has been tasked to prioritise product development across both brands including MOJO and K! branded one-shots and digital expansion.

Phil has an outstanding reputation in the industry and was cited in the Financial Times Creative 50 alongside JK Rowling, Simon Cowell and Richard Curtis. Phil has also worked as a broadcaster on radio and TV, as well as in A&R. Twice nominated as the BSME Editor Of The Year, last year he conceived MOJO’s innovative Let it Be Vinyl edition.

He will report to Rimi Atwal, Publishing Director, Bauer Media's Music Brands, who commented: "Phil is one of Bauer's most innovative Editors, and I am looking forward to working closely with him to further develop Kerrang! and MOJO's editorial, digital, creative and commercial strategies. Our ambition is to grow these multi-platform businesses, while offering clients new and effective ways to communicate with our highly influential audiences."

One of Phil’s first tasks will be to recruit a new editor for Kerrang! following Nichola Browne’s decision earlier this month to step down as Editor of Kerrang! to pursue other projects and freelance opportunities.

Nichola won a place on the Emap Journalism traineeship scheme in 1999, and joined Kerrang! in 2003 as News Editor. She has been Editor of Kerrang! for almost two years, during which time she delivered a year on year growth in sales.

Rimi added: “Nichola is a talented Editor who leaves the UK’s loudest and most exciting music weekly in great shape with a bright future. She has built a solid editorial team who I am sure will continue to make Kerrang! bigger, bolder and better than ever. We wish her every success and also to Phil in his new role.”
