Polestar invests in new Heidelberg press

Polestar is bringing additional six colour production and a host of features to its web offset facility at Polestar Chantry through investment in a Heidelberg M600 16-page press.

The press, which is replacing an existing 32-page M600 at the Wakefield plant, offers re-moistening gluing, die-cutting, pattern perforating and inline spine gluing and finishing, which the company is currently unable to achieve in one pass. Phil Boynes of Polestar UK Print explains: "Polestar Chantry already offers its customers a wide range of services through its extensive press and bindery capabilities. However, with this press, the added value features and the ability to carry them out on one machine gives us greater flexibility and efficiency."

Polestar has obtained the press in conjunction with Close Print Finance from TPF. Close Director David Bunker adds: "Close were delighted to help support Polestar with the acquisition of this press."

Polestar Chantry currently houses seven web offset presses, including two short cut-off presses. The outgoing 32-page M600 is being dismantled to make room for the new press, which will be commissioned in June. The company also offers perfect-binding and mailing services.
