Polestar maintains standards

Polestar Applied Solutions has attained two new standards in environmental and information security management, whilst retaining a third accreditation for quality management.

The company’s Nottingham Sherwood Park facility has been awarded ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 status respectively, after a gruelling nine audits in as many weeks.

Tim Smith, Managing Director of Polestar Applied Solutions, says: "It was an intense time of compliance activity that involved the entire team, and I am extremely pleased that the hard work paid off. It demonstrates to our customers in all sectors that our business behaves responsibly and continues to develop itself with regard to the environment, data security and quality management."

Polestar Applied Solutions Compliance Manager Stephen Gadsby (pictured) adds: "ISO 14001 is an important message and of increasing importance to our customers and prospects alike. However, the Data Security Standard, ISO 27001, has undoubtedly been the hardest to achieve and arguably the most important, as it has allowed us to accelerate our drive into more stringent and regulated sectors. Because of this, we worked really hard to achieve accreditation quickly and took steps to ensure the whole process could be expedited."

He continues: "ISO 9001 standard stopped being a "nice to have" many years ago and for many customers, it is now a pre-requisite. We have held the certificate for a long time but this was the first audit we`ve had where no non-compliances were raised. To accomplish this in amongst the other audits was a significant achievement."

Six other Polestar sites hold ISO 14001 status, including all the UK web offset plants. Four companies in the group have ISO 9001.
