PPA Awards – Winners Announced

The winners of The PPA Awards 2009 were announced last night with IPC’s Nuts and Reed Business Information’s XpertHR winning consumer and business media brands of the year.

Nuts was applauded by judges for its ability to: “respond at every turn to the needs and desires of its audience” while also “sharing the passion of the reader and demonstrating a single-minded commercial exploitation of the brand.” XpertHR was praised for extending its market footprint, and substantially growing its revenues and profits.

The judges added: “XpertHR showed a radical approach to moving the brand to meet the dynamics of its market - a compelling and impressive example of brand diversification”.

The awards, which were hosted by comedian Dara O Briain, were held at Grosvenor House in London last night. More than 900 guests from across the publishing industry attended to celebrate magazine excellence.

Jonathan Shephard, CEO, PPA commented: “The superb quality of the entries for these Awards demonstrates the resilience and talent of a dynamic industry. UK publishers have once again proved that some of the world's top talent is working for their magazines, websites, and across their brands. The UK magazine industry should be immensely proud of its achievements in the past 12 months and we at PPA have responded by staging our best-ever awards ceremony. The PPA Awards are recognised as the industry's top accolade, and all winners deserve our warmest admiration and congratulations.”

The winners were chosen from 186 finalists from 102 titles and 37 publishers. For more information, please download the Winners' Brochure.
