PPA Cover of the Year Award – public to decide

Rihanna, Jessie J, and Nigella Lawson are set to battle it out with Wills and Kate, Family Guy’s Peter Griffin, and Gazza in a public vote for the best magazine cover of the past year.

An online poll has been launched today by the Professional Publishers Association (PPA) to decide the winner of the Front Cover of the Year category at the PPA Awards 2012 from a shortlist of 15 titles.

Voting is open until May 31 at www.ppa.co.uk/coveroftheyear, and voters are encouraged to share and debate their choices on Facebook and on Twitter using the hashtag #coveroftheyear.

The covers in contention are:

The winner will be revealed at the prestigious PPA Awards ceremony at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Mayfair on June 20, where publishers from consumer and business media will compete in a total of 22 awards.

“Covers are the face of a magazine brand. They are able to excite, tease, and talk to readers in a uniquely powerful way, and this eclectic shortlist is a showcase of the vibrant creativity within our industry right now."

Front Cover of the Year is one of two new categories introduced by the PPA in 2012. The other, the PPA Diversity Award, is supported by the Home Office as part of its Body Confidence Campaign, and the shortlist features 11 different titles who have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to promoting diversity in their pages over the last year.
