Reach says Lloyd joined the Mirror in January 1994 and has held numerous roles over the past 30 years, including night editor and assistant editor of the Daily Mirror, editor of the Sunday People, editor-in-chief of the Daily and Sunday Mirror and group editor-in-chief of Trinity Mirror and then Reach.
Since being appointed editor-in-chief in 2014, Reach says Lloyd has played a key role in a number of significant developments at the company, including the acquisition of the Northern & Shell titles, the creation of multi-platform newsrooms across the national titles, and the expansion of the national newsbrands into the US.
Lloyd said: "I am incredibly lucky to have worked for so long with some amazing colleagues in an industry I love. I joined the Mirror on a six-month contract so 30 years feels like a pretty decent innings.
“I leave behind a group of amazingly talented editors and journalists. They are the best in the business and I wish them and their titles every success. I will miss them all enormously but I am excited about the future.”
Reach Chief Executive Jim Mullen commented: “Lloyd’s commitment to the business and keen editorial instincts have helped steer our titles through many changes in recent years. He will be missed by many here at Reach and we wish him well in the future.”
