Rob Last is new publisher of music-making group

Future, the special interest media group and UK’s leading music-making publisher has announced the promotion of Rob Last to Publisher of its music-making group.

The music-making portfolio includes Computer Music, Future Music, MusicRadar.com, Guitarist, Guitar Techniques, Rhythm and Total Guitar; as well as the newly launched ‘Guitarist Presents’ and ‘Producer Sessions Live’ events and the London Music Show.

Rob joined the group as Associate Publisher in November 2008, having previously worked in the Automotive portfolio as Ad Director, and across a number of portfolios at Future for 13 years.

In this newly created role, Rob will report to Publishing Director Mia Walter and will primarily be responsible for publishing Computer Music, Future Music and Rhythm magazines as well as developing Future’s multiplatform approach, leading the new launch of the ‘Producer Sessions Live’ event in September. Run by Computer Music and Future Music, the ‘Producer Sessions Live’ event is set to be the UK’s premier live event for hi-tech music producers, with two days of tutorials, gear demos and essential advice for upcoming producers, says Future.

Mia Walter, Publishing Director for Future’s music-making portfolio said: “Rob has had a great year with his portfolio and has also launched the Hi Tech Bookazine and the ‘Guitarist Presents’ events. As the UK’s leading music-making publisher, the continued growth of our brands and extension of our multiplatform offering is key; I’m looking forward to working with Rob on these exciting new projects.”

Rob Last added:  “I’ve benefited from the support of a great team and it’s been exciting to play a part in developing new products; in particular live events, which will complement our existing magazines and MusicRadar.com. I’m really looking forward to the next 12 months and helping to make the London Music Show a big success for us and the industry.”
