Stamp Mag celebrates 75th birthday

Stamp Magazine is celebrating its 75th birthday with a very special edition.

The issue comes with a unique free supplement - a full reprint of the very first issue from October 1934. In addition, a special feature inside the magazine provides a fascinating commentary on the editorial content and evocative adverts that appeared in issue one.

The issue also sees a panel of luminaries picking out their philatelic highlights from each individual year from 1934 to 2009. Highlights include landmark stamp issues, historic auctions, unexpected discoveries, ground-breaking technological developments and memorable exhibitions. In each case, the panel recalls their impact at the time as well as assessing their long-term importance to Great Britain, the Commonwealth, Europe or the world.

Editor Guy Thomas says: “This is the biggest issue of the magazine for at least five years. It is an unmissable chance for collectors to wallow in nostalgia, enjoy an expert perspective on a lifetime of change, and appreciate Stamp Magazine’s role in the development of philately.”
