Stevie Spring is new PPA Deputy Chair

Stevie Spring, Chief Executive of Future plc, is to be the new incoming Deputy Chair of the Professional Publishers Association (PPA), effective from April 1.

She succeeds outgoing Deputy Chairman Peter Phippen, Managing Director of BBC Magazines.

Charles Reed, PPA Chairman and Group Managing Director of William Reed Business Media, says: "I very much look forward to working with Stevie, who I am sure will be an excellent Deputy Chair and, of course, the next Chair of the PPA. I would like to thank Peter Phippen for his great service to the PPA these last few years as both Chairman and Deputy Chairman."

Stevie Spring (pictured) says: "I am honoured to have been invited to help shape the strategy for change for our industry at arguably one of the most exciting times in its history. I can't wait to get stuck in."

Peter Phippen says: "It's been an enormous honour and a great pleasure to serve as Chairman and Deputy Chairman during a period of exciting change for our industry. I'm thrilled to be handing the baton on to Stevie who will make an outstanding contribution."

Stevie Spring is Chair of Children In Need and former Chair of The Groundwork Federation. She is a Fellow of the IPA and the Marketing Society, an Honorary Member of the Women's Advertising Club, and a patron of NABS, the National Advertising Benevolent Society.

The PPA appointed former Smash Hits Editor Barry McIlheney as Chief Executive in February last year and recently rebranded itself as the Professional (formerly Periodical) Publishers Association. Its flagship annual conference will take place on May 4 this year.
