Top US archaeology journal joins Maney

Maney Publishing is to publish the Journal of Field Archaeology from 2010.

Formerly published by Boston University, USA, the Journal of Field Archaeology is an international, refereed publication serving the interests of archaeologists, anthropologists, historians, scientists, and others concerned with the recovery and interpretation of archaeological data. Its scope is worldwide and is not confined to any particular time period.

This leading journal will be published in both print and electronic formats, and complements Maney’s 14 other titles published in this area. Journal of Field Archaeology will join the MORE (Maney Online Research E-journals) Archaeology & Heritage Collection to provide a considerable enhancement for institutions subscribing to this package.

Following Maney’s extensive programme of retrodigitisation, the full archive from Volume 1 (1974) will also be made available online to institutional subscribers from 2010. All online content will be fully searchable with hypertext linking through CrossRef.

Liz Rosindale, Maney’s Publishing Manager for humanities, is delighted at the acquisition: “Journal of Field Archaeology represents an excellent expansion of Maney’s archaeology list, spanning the various periods and methodological studies in which Maney’s archaeology journals already publish. As such it will be of particular interest to many of our existing customers. We look forward to working with the editorial team to develop the Journal’s reputation as a leading resource in the field.”

Editor Curtis Runnels (Boston University, USA) commented on the new publishing arrangement: “The Journal of Field Archaeology is an international journal with global scope, and we believe that Maney's experience in serving a world market will help us to expand our readership and to provide a better journal for all archaeologists, wherever they work, and whatever their specialty.”
