UBM appoints Eleanor Phillips as Group Human Resources Director

UBM plc yesterday announced the appointment of Eleanor Phillips as Group Human Resources Director for UBM plc, succeeding Sally Shankland who was appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer of UBM Americas in September.

Eleanor will report directly to UBM’s CEO Tim Cobbold and will join UBM’s Executive Committee. Based at UBM’s London headquarters, she takes up her new role immediately.

Eleanor will be responsible for leading UBM’s Human Resources function worldwide, working closely with the CEO and her Executive Committee colleagues to evolve UBM’s organisation and people strategy in support of the company’s long term corporate goals.

Eleanor is an experienced Executive Board Human Resources practitioner with wide-ranging industry experience. She combines strong commercial appreciation with a professional background in successfully delivering HR services to global organisations growing both organically and acquisitively in emerging and developed economies, says UBM. Most recently, Eleanor worked for almost four years with SAP, latterly as Senior Vice President Human Resource for EMEA, where she was responsible for providing integrated HR services to SAP’s growing European business.

Prior to this Eleanor held both regional and global roles in medium-sized, acquisitive technology companies including Geac Corporation and Lawson Software. She originally learnt her trade in the oil industry having worked for Mobil Oil Corporation.

Tim Cobbold, CEO of UBM plc said: “I am very pleased to appoint Eleanor to lead UBM’s worldwide Human Resources function and to support our growth plans as we execute on UBM’s refreshed corporate strategy. Eleanor brings with her a proven track record of leading HR teams in businesses recognised for their operational excellence and businesses where both agility and local entrepreneurship were key to the company’s operating model.”
