Condé Nast yesterday named Vanessa Kingori MBE as the Chief Business Officer, Condé Nast Britain and Vogue European Business Advisor.

Vanessa Kingori appointed Chief Business Officer, Conde Nast Britain
Vanessa Kingori.

Kingori brings with her nearly 20 years’ experience in the media industry with a strong track record for digitalisation, business transformation and change management across multiple brands. Most recently as British Vogue’s Publishing Director, she successfully reinvigorated and diversified the commercial business model to drive British Vogue’s brand purpose and business strategy with an emphasis on purpose and social responsibility. This has led to exponential revenue growth for the brand, says Condé Nast.

Kingori’s appointment to lead the British Vogue business made history. She is British Vogue’s first female business lead in the titles’ 105 year history and Conde Nast Britain’s first Black Publisher.

Prior to her appointment at British Vogue in 2017, Kingori was a key driver of British GQ’s digital business transformation, joining in 2009 and working her way up to Publishing Director in 2015. Prior to Condé Nast, Kingori began her career at London’s Evening Standard and enjoyed success at Hearst’s Esquire.

As The Chief Business Officer, Condé Nast Britain, Kingori will lead the UK Commercial Teams across all Condé Nast brands including Vogue, GQ, Wired, Vanity Fair, Glamour, Tatler, Conde Nast Traveller, House & Garden and The World of Interiors. As a member of the company’s European commercial leadership team, Kingori will be responsible for uniting commercial functions across UK brands, leading client relationships across the UK Business, and providing support for the UK commercial leads.

Vanessa’s key direct reports are the newly promoted Commercial Business Officers: Nick Sargent, Culture; Emma Redmayne, Home; Simon Leadsford, Travel & Lifestyle.

Based in London, Kingori will report to Marco Ricci, Condé Nast's recently appointed VP Commercial, Europe who brings with him over 20 years in Digital experience in line with Condé Nast's Global commercial strategy. Ricci oversees commercial management across Europe, inclusive of the UK. Kingori will continue to lead the British Vogue Business in close collaboration with Editor in Chief Edward Enninful, and act as an advisor supporting Vogue across Europe.

Pam Drucker Mann, Global Chief Revenue Officer, President, U.S. Revenue: “Vanessa is an incredibly capable leader who has been instrumental in driving the commercial success of British Vogue. Her ability to innovate on behalf of our clients will be critical as we continue to drive digital success across our broader UK portfolio."

Natalia Gamero del Castillo, Managing Director, Europe added: “During Vanessa’s career across Condé Nast’s brands, she has consistently found innovative ways of generating new revenue and strengthening flagship client relationships. Her insights coupled with the wealth of experience of the category lead CBO’s will contribute to the success of the new European market.”
