Wallpaper announces Singapore MultipliCITY showcase

The Singapore + Wallpaper* Handmade Classics Showcase will be on display from 9 March until 11 June at Gillman Barracks, Singapore.

Singapore is a rapidly developing design destination, says Wallpaper*. To celebrate the city-state’s dynamic, creative spirit, DesignSingapore Council announces Singapore + Wallpaper* Handmade Classics, a showcase of original, one-off pieces and unique design collaborations commissioned by Wallpaper* and created by internationally renowned talents.

The exhibition’s ‘MultipliCITY’ theme acknowledges Singapore’s heritage of adaptability, versatility, diversity and invention. With Singapore’s 5.78 million, multicultural residents living in just 719 sq km of land, space is at premium and a profound urban transformation has engendered an environment of high-density accommodation. To maximise living space, Singaporeans adapt by creating a multiplicity of micro solutions to the problems of high-density living.

According to the publishers, Singapore + Wallpaper* Handmade MultipliCITY is a special collection of ingenious designs, some that playfully acknowledge the unique parameters of the contemporary Singaporean lifestyle, others that simply delight and amuse with through their handcrafted beauty.

Designers, makers and collaborations on show at Singapore + Wallpaper* Handmade Classics include: Future Facility + Braun Oral-B, Beatrix Ong + Joined + Jointed, David Kohn Architects + Kinnasand, Pelle + E. R. Butler & Co, Steffen Kehrle + Master & Dynamic, laContrie + Perceval, Neri & Hu + Jaguar Design, Tomás Alonso + Lobmeyr + Absolut Vodka, Tsatsas, Christian Haas + Marquis de Montesquiou + Theresienthal, Alfredo Häberli + Kim Stahlmöbel, Michael Elmgreen + Solve 3D, Geza Schoen + Gerhard Steidl + Karl Lagerfeld, Hannah Martin, Monika Sprüth + Mykita, Miranda Watkins + Wentworth.
