Apple Taps Bloomberg Business for First News App

Bloomberg Business was named a business news launch partner of Apple’s iOS9 news reading experience at yesterday’s Worldwide Developers Conference.

“We’re thrilled to have a technology and design icon like Apple invite us to lead an initiative that will impact the way consumers get news on the go,” said Bloomberg Media CEO Justin B. Smith. “The developments we are making on mobile and connected devices are a key component of Bloomberg Media’s strategy to build a multi-platform media company for global business. Bloomberg has a long history with Apple, and we look forward extending our reach and providing readers with an outstanding business news experience on Apple devices.”

Bloomberg Business, the company’s flagship digital destination that launched in January 2015, was built as a mobile-first site, bringing together the editorial DNA of Bloomberg News and the design excellence of Bloomberg Businessweek, says Bloomberg. Complementing Bloomberg Business’ editorial and design vision, the Apple News app promises a rich experience that combines the immersive design of a print magazine and the interactivity of digital media. It can learn your interests and suggest relevant content that’s easily shareable with friends or saved for later.

Bloomberg says: The app is powered by a digital publishing format supporting custom typography, galleries, audio, video, and interactive animations, allowing publishers like us to create beautiful editorial layouts for iOS users. While we’re already creating high-quality, design-forward content experiences, we’re hard at work developing more to appeal to the ever-growing population of mobile users.

The news from Bloomberg Business that will be available on the app will be curated by our team of mobile editors and include high-quality text, photos, graphics, and videos. Content will originate from the Bloomberg Business home page as well as our Markets, Technology, Pursuits, Politics and View sections.
