London Evening Standard Launches New Apps Range

ESI Media has launched new London Evening Standard apps for iOS, underlining, say the publishers, its continued commitment to evolving the brand’s digital presence and seamlessly integrating it with its print editions.

Automatically updating every 30 minutes, 7 days a week, the new apps are available for free for both iOS and Android smartphone users, providing up-to-the-minute news, and combining its daily digital PDF edition with further interactive features.

In response to the continued demand for innovative and compelling news formats, says ESI Media, the state-of-the-art apps allow readers to comment on the day’s stories and share across social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. The apps also feature full-screen photo galleries, exclusive content and sections, and users are able to access a PDF of the day’s London Evening Standard, with all magazines and supplements, alongside an archive of the last 30 editions.

Whilst the iPhone and Android apps are completely new, the iPad version is a fundamental update to enhance user experience, with improved stability and performance. Alongside a new look designed to increase readability, it now also includes a dedicated supplements page, making it easier to access the latest editions.

Zach Leonard, digital MD, Independent and London Evening Standard said: “Our digital audience has significantly grown over the last year, with more than half of our traffic (56%) now coming from a mobile or tablet device. It is important for us as both a brand and a news source to constantly evolve our products to meet our readers’ demands. That is why we are providing them with new ways to engage with our content whenever, however and wherever best suits them.”
