Marie Claire @Work launches Careers Conference

Marie Claire is bringing its careers franchise, Marie Claire@Work, to life with a one-day conference at BAFTA.

The event targets women looking to boost their career, change direction or set up their own business.

Sponsors of the event on Saturday, June 13, include Karen Millen, balance me, Benefit, Frédérique Constant, TruBe and Freixenet.

Marie Claire @ Work Live will present a day of inspiring talks and workshops with some of Britain’s most high-profile businesswomen and entrepreneurs, say the publishers. Speakers include Miriam González Durántez, international lawyer and campaigner; Chloe Macintosh, MADE.com co-founder; Sarah Curran, my-wardrobe.com founder; and Divinia Knowles, president and CFO of Mind Candy.

Trish Halpin, Marie Claire’s editor-in-chief, says: “Our @Work content in print and online always drives huge engagement with our readers, and this is the fifth year we have been running our mentoring scheme, so we are very excited to be able to bring this Marie Claire experience to life.”

Justine Southall, publishing director, adds: “Marie Claire has always been the title that inspires women to think smart as well as look amazing. We know that 68% of readers work full time and almost 50% of them are the chief income earner, so Marie Claire @Work is all about encouraging them to reach their professional potential. With inspiring content, mentoring scheme, annual awards – and now Marie Claire @Work Live – we are helping women to realise their careers goals.”

Conference sessions will address a range of pressing careers topics such as CVs in a social world, growing a business fast, tools for avoiding burn-out and negotiation techniques. There will also be masterclasses in building the ultimate working wardrobe and dealing with the biggest beauty challenges at work.

Marie Claire worked with consultants Patrick Keogh and Sara Rhodes to stage Marie Claire @Work Live.
