BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists is a top ranked journal in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology with an impact factor of 4.8 and is owned by the RCOG.
Michael Marsh will take over the role on 1 January and will lead the journal, including its editorial board of top experts, to produce high quality content across all specialities in obstetrics and gynaecology, says RCOG.
Michael has had over 15 years’ experience of senior medical editorship and has been a Deputy Editor-in-Chief of BJOG since 2010. He is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at King’s College Hospital in London, and has held positions as Honorary Senior Lecturer at Kings’ College School of Medicine and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry. He qualified as a doctor and received his medical degree from Guy’s Hospital Medical School in 1982 and his MD from the University of London in 1995.
His clinical and research interests include high risk pregnancy, psychiatric disease in pregnancy, neurological disease in pregnancy, diabetes and endocrine disease in pregnancy, gynaecological endocrinology and neuroendocrinology, and survivorship management in women with breast cancer.
He has produced many peer review papers and invited articles on these subjects. His books include titles concerning osteoporosis, the menopause, psychiatric disease in pregnancy, neurological disease and pregnancy, and labour management. He has a longstanding clinical and academic interest in medical ethics and is currently the UK representative on the FIGO Ethics Committee.
