The journal publishes articles about innovative and best practice in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology and it is co-owned with the British Society of Gastroenterology.
Based in Southampton, Professor Beattie is a Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist at Southampton Children’s Hospital and leads the Wessex Regional Paediatric Gastroenterology Service. He has an extensive track record of research into paediatric inflammatory bowel disease over the last 20 years.
He has authored multiple publications on the management of Crohn’s disease and other gastrointestinal conditions. Professor Beattie was the Editor-in-Chief of Archives of Disease in Childhood from 2012–17 and is the co-author of the Oxford Handbook of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. He was President of the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, 2010–13.

I would like to acknowledge the substantial contribution of the outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Dr Anton Emmanuel, who has served for 7 years and built up the journal into an essential resource for all gastroenterology professionals."
Professor Beattie will take up his new post in September 2018.
