New fully responsive app – first of its kind for physics magazines

With mobile and tablet access now an essential tool for researchers, says IOP Publishing, the Institute has launched a new fully responsive app for its Physics World magazine.

The Physics World team has created the first digital magazine of its kind in physics publishing, says IOP Publishing.

Replacing the previous “page-turning” format, Physics World is now digitally optimized so that it is fully responsive in both orientations to different devices. It is available on iOS and Android and can be accessed via WebReader. Features such as scrapbooking and annotations are already available, and other features such as podcasts will be included in app updates in the coming months.

Matin Durrani, Editor of Physics World, said: “Our new app unshackles the content using the latest web technologies to provide our readers with both elegance and flexibility. This is a great enhanced benefit for members of the Institute of Physics.”

Readers can now use the app to read monthly issues of the magazine plus additional content such as technology focus issues and special regional reports. The Physics World 25th anniversary issue is available as a free sample within the app to showcase the compelling content and new technology.
