Magazine celebrates with 200 best French experiences

France Magazine has published its 200th edition, the May 2015 issue. To celebrate the landmark event, the Archant magazine features the 200 best experiences in France – the ultimate guide to French holidays, says the company.

The list has been incorporated into the existing format of France magazine, so the 200 different experiences – from cycling on the Ile de Re to drinking Champagne in a treetop bar – run through the features and regular sections.

"The challenge was not coming up with 200 experiences," said editor Carolyn Boyd, "but narrowing them down from more than 1000 suggestions we made ourselves, and got from our writers, readers and many contacts. It has been a pleasure to put it together, not least because it is my 100th edition as editor."

The magazine team's favourites:

1. Cycling on the Ile de Ré

2. Driving around the Gorges du Verdon

3. Walking to the Cirque du Gavarnie

4. Wander around one of the named 'beautiful villages of France'

5. Cross the Pont du Gard

6. Eat dinner up the Eiffel Tower

7. Watch a stage of the Tour de France

8. Spend hours on a cafe terrace

9. Make perfume in Grasse

10. Walk part of the Santiago de Compostela

11. Buy dinner at the local market

12. Drive over the Millau Viaduct
