Bauer Media and City University London Join Forces to Launch Creative Incubator Project

Bauer Media have announced a partnership with City University London to help journalism students create, develop and pitch creative content ideas to some of Bauer's senior executives.

Bauer Media has launched a partnership called the Creative Thinking Project designed to give City University London students experience of working with a media company on new content ideas.

Over the four days of the project the City graduates will work in small teams on editorial ideas guided by senior Bauer executives including Group Marketing Director Anne-Marie Lavan, MD of Advertising Richard Dunmall and Lauren Holleyoake, the Publisher of Grazia and The Debrief.

In total 17 Bauer mentors are working on the project, also including The Debrief's Editor Hattie Brett and Head of Commercial Marketing Rebecca Eaves.

The project has been set up and mentored by former heat Editor, media consultant Julian Linley and is being led by Bauer Media's Executive Content Director Jane Johnson.

The team who create and pitch the strongest idea editorially and commercially - judged by a panel including Bauer Media Managing Director Abby Carvosso - will be given internships with Bauer brands and the chance to develop their idea further.

Jane Johnson, Bauer Media's Executive Content Director, said: "We're very excited about the project with City. We think it's a great opportunity for us to support and grow new talent. We have put together a programme of creative sessions, workshops and panel discussions with our senior executives and journalists. We hope the students enjoy the project and can't wait to see the results."

Paul Keenan, CEO of Bauer Media, said: "At Bauer we very much believe in investing in young talent. This project is a great chance to forge even stronger links with City University London and follows the recent launch of The Bauer Academy and Go Think Big which creates thousands of work opportunities for 16 to 25 year olds."

Barbara Rowlands, MA Magazine Journalism director at City University, said: "We are delighted to be working with Bauer on this exciting project. The students are learning hands-on from some of the most senior people in the magazine industry today and it's a terrific fusion of experience, creativity, youth and fresh ideas. This is just the kind of initiative we need in a fast-changing business - the industry needs new young talent and the students need opportunities."

Bauer runs Go Think Big, a partnership with O2 which gives careers advice and internships to thousands of young people a year. Bauer also run the Bauer Academy, a centre for media training based in the North of England and Scotland.
