Focusing on running costs, safety, economy, performance, reliability and comfort, CarBuyer’s expert judging team picked the best cars across 17 buyer focused categories – and named a grand champion, the first ever CarBuyer Car of the Year.
And taking top spot for all-round appeal is the Kia Sportage.

The Sportage Is one of 17 vehicles honoured by CarBuyer's judges. The affordable Hyundai i10 is named Best City Car; the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the Best Luxury Car.
British brands, and British built cars scored highly in the 2011 awards.
• The Solihull built Land Rover Discovery is named Best Luxury 4x4, while the Jaguar XK, built at Castle Bromwich, Birmingham is named Most Stylish.
• Nissan's Leaf set for production in Sunderland is given a special award for Innovation.
Meanwhile,
• Skoda picks up two awards, with the Yeti named Best Family Car and the Superb Estate the Best Estate Car.
• SEAT's Alhambra is crowned Best Large MPV.
• Citroen's DS3 is recognised as the Best Hot Hatchback.
• Mazda's MX-5 is named Best Convertible.
• Renault's Scenic is the Best MPV.
Ford, Audi and BMW score category wins.
• Ford picks up awards for Best Supermini and Best Large Family Car with the Fiesta and Mondeo respectively.
• BMW's 3 Series is named Best Executive, and the 5 Series Best Large Executive.
• Audi's new A1 is named Best Luxury Small Car.
