Evening Standard appoints Associate Editor Comment

George Osborne yesterday announced that Julian Glover will be heading up the Evening Standard’s expanded comment section and will be writing for the newspaper as of Monday 29th January.

George Osborne said: “As a journalist, writer and government adviser, Julian is both experienced and super-talented. He will be a great addition to the team here at the Standard, as we give our readers the very best writing and comment there is.”

Julian Glover was previously lead writer and columnist at the Guardian for 10 years before he worked in Government as speechwriter to David Cameron and as a special adviser on Transport. His biography of Thomas Telford, one of Britain’s greatest engineers, has just been published in paperback.

Melanie McDonagh moves from her current position as Comment Editor to Senior Writer. She will be writing across features, arts and books.
