Kirchfeld will join the Financial Times in May, based in London, and will lead coverage of European corporate activity, working across the FT’s global network. The FT says this newly created role strengthens its position as a source of business and finance news and analysis.
Kirchfeld joins from Bloomberg News, where he spent 20 years and worked most recently as the executive editor for Global Deals. He previously served as German finance reporter and deputy Frankfurt bureau chief, covering some of Europe’s most significant companies and banks. Before that, he covered business news at a unit of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in Germany.
FT Editor Roula Khalaf said: “Aaron is one of the best reporters in the business. He brings a deep understanding of corporate affairs and an outstanding track record of delivering scoops and insights to readers. I am delighted to welcome him to the FT to lead our European business coverage."
Aaron Kirchfeld said: “After an incredible two decades at Bloomberg, I’m thrilled to be fulfilling a longtime dream of joining the FT. I look forward to teaming up with my new colleagues to break news on Europe’s biggest companies and chronicle how business leaders will navigate these turbulent times.”
