Trinity Mirror says: Bigger and better than ever, the roadshow will visit Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool as part of the Daily Mirror’s Get Britain Working campaign. It’s the third year Fish4jobs and the Daily Mirror have driven jobs, experts and advice directly to those who need help and support.
This year the bus will be packed with experts from the National Apprenticeship Service, Learndirect, hotel giant Travelodge, HSS Hire and a range of local employers in each city. Local councillors and MPs will also be stopping by to meet jobseekers.
Recent Fish4jobs research found 40% of jobseekers rate the Government’s Work Programme “one out of 10” for quality of advice and support, while 82% rate it at five or lower.
Head of marketing at Fish4jobs Charlotte Tracy said: “Jobseekers are grossly disillusioned with the Work Programme. Our survey shows that all ages have little confidence in the Government to support them in their job search.
“We are doing the roadshow because we know jobseekers need practical, grass-roots career advice and support. We will be holding free workshops on CVs and interviews for both young and older workers, as well as advice for jobseekers.
“Both groups have been hardest hit by the downturn.”
The roadshow will be backed by four of Trinity Mirror’s regional titles (Western Mail, Manchester Evening News, Birmingham Mail, Liverpool Echo), who will publish lead-up and on-the-day stories as the bus visits their cities.
The job fairs will run from 10am – 4pm at the following locations:
Sunday 9th June - Queen Street, Cardiff
Monday 10th June & Tuesday 11th June, Victoria Square, Birmingham
Wednesday 12th June & Thursday 13th June, Albert Square, Manchester
Friday 14th June & Saturday 15th June, Liverpool One Shopping Centre
