FT appoints John Kundert as chief technical officer

The Financial Times yesterday announced the appointment of John Kundert as its chief technical officer (CTO), leading the FT’s technology strategy across the development and operations teams.

In his previous role as director of platforms, Kundert was instrumental in establishing the FT’s data platform, which forms the backbone of the company’s successful set of data capabilities. More recently, Kundert held a wider cross platform role, extending his reach to universal publishing and membership. As CTO, Kundert will oversee all areas of technology, ensuring that technical strategies and solutions are aligned with business needs and vision.

FT chief product and information officer Cait O’Riordan said: “John has a long track-record at the FT of delivering ground-breaking digital solutions. His FT domain knowledge, together with his experience at a leading startup commercialising data, will be invaluable as we embrace the challenges of tomorrow.”

According to the publishers, the FT’s technology and product team powers the FT with strong, simple and open technology. They provide platforms to support the FT’s content and deliver projects efficiently while generating innovative new ideas.
