The Guardian has won the gold medal for brand of the year at the Society of Publication Design Awards (SPD).

The annual SPD awards, presented this year on 16th June, celebrate editorial creative, recognising excellent work in design, photography and illustration across print and digital platforms.

The brand of the year award celebrates the publication which demonstrates brilliance of design and consistency of voice across a range of mediums, including print, digital, visuals, audio and video.

The Guardian won for its 200th birthday anniversary work, including its website and app, flagship daily news podcast Today in Focus, its Oscar and BAFTA award-winning Documentaries strand, the newspaper, Saturday magazine and online interactives, says the publisher.
