Keynote speakers announced for AOP Summit

The Association of Online Publishers (AOP) has announced two keynote speakers for its annual flagship Digital Publishing Summit, Jacek Utko, Design Director, Bonnier Business Press International and Jay Altschuler, Global Communications Planning Director, Unilever.

This year’s event will be held at Westminster Bridge Park Plaza on 15 October 2010, with the theme “Building World Class Digital Media Businesses”.

Lee Baker (pictured), Director of AOP says, “We are thrilled to have Jacek and Jay as keynote speakers at this year’s AOP Summit.  We have deliberately built the programme to draw together world innovators who can give our members the benefit of their experience and expertise.  All our speakers, particularly our keynote speakers, will give delegates exciting insights into how global players are transforming their businesses with a digital edge, and discuss their views on the future of digital publishing.” 

Jacek Utko, a Polish designer who changed the fortunes of Swedish Bonnier Business Press as director for the whole BBP group for eight Central European Countries, collecting more than forty awards along the way, including “World’s Best Designed Newspaper” for two newspapers under his charge. At the AOP Summit, he will explore the relationship and trends between newspaper and web design; and will offer 10 ideas for publishers to succeed in a digital world.   

As Unilever gets set to double its digital spend, Jay Altschuler will talk about how Unilever as one of the world’s largest FMCG operations is responding to the shifting marketing and consumer landscape, and how a market leader is integrating digital thinking into its business and what they’re looking for in online publishing businesses.

At the AOP Summit 2010, Kate Silverton, News & Current Affairs Journalist, will chair the proceedings. Speakers include business leaders: Stephen Miron, CEO of Global Radio; Matt Brittin, Managing Director of Google UK and Tim Brooks, Managing Director of Guardian News and Media – examining the criteria needed to lead the world in innovation and whether the UK can claim to have the best digital media businesses. 

Further speakers confirmed include: Marcus Wareham, Planning and Strategy Manager, Facebook, Tim Weller, Group Chief Executive of Incisive Media; Dominic Collins, Vice President, Portal & Audience Business Unit at Orange; Jon Mitchell, UK Country Manager, Spotify; Matt Kelly, Director of Digital Content, Trinity Mirror; Claire Enders, CEO and Owner, Enders Analysis; Alisa Bowen, Managing Director, Publishing, Thomson Reuters; John Butler, Head of Communications & Media, dunnhumby and Mike Butcher, Editor, TechCrunch Europe.

The one-day AOP Summit will be split into four key areas of insight:

• producing world class editorial content

• developing new avenues of revenue generation

• building B2B value in a B2C world

• how harnessing and investing the best technology makes businesses fit for 2011 and beyond.
