Launch: Raspi

Raspi, a new digital magazine for Raspberry Pi coders and makers, launched on Apple Newsstand on 6 August. RasPi is a digital-only magazine for Raspberry Pi enthusiasts from the publishers of Linux User & Developer.

Packed with easy-to-follow tutorials, projects and advice, every issue will offer stunning value priced at 69p/99c, says Imagine Publishing. Issue one will show readers how to build a drone as well as give new Raspberry Pi users essential advice on how to set up. Also available free in the RasPi app is an easy-to-follow guide to building a Raspberry Pi-powered buggy.

Editor in Chief Nick Roberts declared, “We’re really excited about the launch of RasPi – we know this new, inquisitive generation of coders will love it. Through Linux User & Developer we have helped inspire so many new Raspberry Pi developers – now it’s time for RasPi to do the same across the world.”

Gavin Thomas, Deputy Editor of RasPi added, “The Raspberry Pi community has exploded in popularity over the last couple of years, embodying the inquisitive spirit of coders, hackers and makers that dates way back to the Tech Model Railroad Club. Attracting enthusiasts everywhere from the server room to the class room, the Raspberry Pi has a special appeal to anyone who loves to experiment and pursue their imagination, and that’s why we’re launching RasPi.”

The pocket-sized Raspberry Pi, priced at less than £25, reached its three million units sold milestone in June, making it the most popular educational and coding project computer of all time. It has now doubled the sales of the classic BBC Micro of the 1980s. With this massive success comes a demand for more projects, tutorials and chat around Raspberry Pi, and that’s why RasPi magazine is essential reading for all RasPi coders, say the publishers.
