Mark Hix Joins The Telegraph
Jane Bruton: “I know that his weekly column will be a must read for our readers, who will avidly follow his journey.”

Writing in The Telegraph Magazine, the chef and restaurateur’s weekly column will cover his new venture selling fish from a food truck in Dorset, following the closure of his restaurant group in April. His first column, under the title The Long Road Back, will be published on January 2.

Known for his original British gastronomy, Mark was behind restaurants including HIX Soho and HIX Oyster and Chop House. Noticing a niche in the market and responding quickly to a difficult situation, Mark set up the HIX Oyster & Fish Truck in Morcombelake and sells wet fish and seafood which he buys directly from local fishermen.

Mark’s journey continues; The Oyster & Fish House in Lyme Regis was bought from the administrators and reopened in July, as well as recently opening The Fox Inn in Corscombe, Dorset.

Jane Bruton, Deputy Editor & Director of Lifestyle, The Telegraph said: “Earlier this year the Telegraph Magazine ran a cover story about Mark and his rapid reinvention during the pandemic which resonated deeply with our readers. I’m delighted to welcome Mark to The Telegraph, and I know that his weekly column will be a must read for our readers, who will avidly follow his journey. Mark joins our roster of brilliant food writers, including Diana Henry, Angela Hartnett, Stephen Harris, Ravneet Gill and Xanthe Clay.”
