Metro appoints new Finance Director

Metro has appointed Phil Offord as Finance Director. Phil was previously in the role of Head of Finance at Metro, which he assumed in January 2011.

Phil (pictured) gained his ACA qualification with Lubbock Fine Chartered Accountants in 2006. He began working for Associated Newspapers in 2008 with roles as Finance Manager and Business Analyst for the Free Division which included work on Metro, 7Days in Dubai and Metro Ireland.

Phil has enjoyed substantial achievements since joining the business in 2008, including the implementation of new finance systems, overseeing a refresh of internal reporting delivering improved insight and forecasting for the business, as well as providing financial modelling to support new opportunities and deliver efficiency.

In his new role, Phil is a member of Metro’s executive team and has joint responsibility with the rest of the team for creating the brand’s strategy and vision, with a strong emphasis on looking at growth areas and investment plans for the future.
