New hybrid HTML5 app for Times Higher Education

Following on the heels of the recent re-design and re-launch of the THE website, comes a new hybrid HTML5 app for iPad and iPhone users.

The new app combines the strength of Abacus e-Media’s Webvision for HTML page creation and workflow and Kaldor’s Pugpig HTML5 app publishing system.

The Times Higher editorial team use Webvision’s multichannel publishing capabilities to create and publish THE for tablet/mobile and web, providing a central repository and workflow for digital content. The Pugpig system wraps the responsive HTML5 pages into an issue and integrates seamlessly with the iTunes ecosystem, preserving native app features and functionality, giving the user the best of both worlds, says Abacus e-Media. Users can navigate the app via story swiping, slide out menus and simple search interface.

Current subscriber to the print or digital bundle of Times Higher Education can download the new THE app free on their Apple iPad and iPhone.  Non-subscribers can purchase individual issues or an annual subscription to the app from iTunes.
