David Dinsmore: “I am delighted to be taking on the role of president for NewstrAid.”

NewstrAid has announced that David Dinsmore will be taking over as president of the charity after their current president, Murdoch Maclennan revealed he would be stepping down after nearly a decade.

Murdoch Maclennan said: “It has been an honour to be president of NewstrAid since 2014 and I am very proud of all the excellent support the charity continues to provide to our industry and the people who work within it. I have no doubt that David will find the role of president equally rewarding and I wish him and the charity the very best for the future.”

NewstrAid CEO, Neil Jagger said, “We are so grateful to Murdoch MacLennan for being such a supportive president over the last nine years and are delighted that David Dinsmore has agreed to take over the role.”

David Dinsmore is EVP, chief operating officer at News UK, the multi-platform media business behind brands including The Sun, The Times, The Sunday Times, TLS, talkSPORT, Virgin Radio UK, TalkTV and Times Radio, which cumulatively reach around 40 million consumers every month.

In response to taking over from Murdoch Maclennan, David said: “I am delighted to be taking on the role of president for NewstrAid. The charity provides essential support to those facing hardship in our industry and given the current economic climate, the financial, emotional and practical help they offer is needed now more than ever. I look forward to being part of this fantastic and historic organisation.”

As EVP, chief operating officer at News UK, David is responsible, among other things, for News UK's print, supply chain and retail partnerships, ensuring that millions of consumers enjoy their favourite newsbrands in print across the UK.

David is also responsible for relationships with tech platforms including Google, Apple and Facebook; strategic relationships with some of the UK's biggest advertisers, and oversees News UK’s data, licensing and events divisions.
