NFRN and Independent in joint promotion

Hot on the heels of the NFRN’s biggest ever news promotion with the Guardian comes another exclusive newspaper initiative for its members – this time with The Independent.

For four weeks from April 16 consumers will be offered half price vouchers which can only be redeemed in 750 members’ stores.

Unveiling the promotion NFRN marketing director Graeme Collins said: “We are delighted to have joined forces with The Independent and give members the chance to potentially make hundreds of pounds.”

Under the scheme customers will be invited to complete their details on leaflets available in participating member stores which will entitle them to seven days of The Independent at half price. Following that they will then be offered a three month subscription with members earning £10 for every subscription secured. In addition during the promotional period NFRN members will receive 2.5p for all copies of the Independent sold on Monday to Saturday and 5p on their Sunday sales.

Full POS material will be available including a poster, shelf talker and strut card along with 100 leaflets.

Independent head of circulation John Simmons said: “The Independent is fully committed to bolstering sales through independent retailers as this is a key sector for us.  We have carefully selected the retailers to be involved; however, we would be happy to consider requests from proactive retailers who think they can contribute to and benefit from the activity.”
