NFRN names new Chief Executive

The NFRN has appointed Paul Baxter as its new chief executive.

Paul (pictured) comes to the Federation with a wealth of experience in the retail trade, having held senior posts within several of the country’s leading retailers.

He was a director for TM Retail for five years, during which time he developed and launched McColl's Convenience Stores and Martins Newsagents having previously been commercial director for Alldays. In addition, during a 27 year career, he has worked for Somerfield, Safeway and Sainsbury.

National President Kieran McDonnell said: “Paul has a wealth of retail experience and a proven track record of achievement which will equip him well to represent the interests of independent newsagents and convenience stores in such challenging times. He will be a real asset to the NFRN and I look forward to working with him.”

In his new role Paul will work closely with the NFRN’s national executive committee, national council and senior management to help build on the NFRN’s achievements to date and shape the next stage of its development.

Paul said: “I am delighted and proud to be joining the NFRN. Over the years I have witnessed the battles that independent retailers have fought for a fair deal and I can promise that myself and the team will do all we can to continue to fight for this fantastic organisation and its members to support their future in delivering excellent service to our customers.”

Paul is expected to take up his new appointment next month.
