Buckinghamshire Live has recruited a team of four journalists as part of the title’s launch on Tuesday.

Reach launches Buckinghamshire Live
Lucy Thorne: “Buckinghamshire Live is a talented team who are passionate about representing the area’s vibrant communities.”

The new site includes the biggest news stories, features and what’s on from across the county, including Milton Keynes, High Wycombe, Aylesbury, says Reach. The Buckinghamshire Live team, made up of a content editor and three multimedia journalists, is led by editor Lucy Thorne, who also runs Berkshire Live.

Tom Burnett has moved from the Sentinel and Stoke-on-Trent Live to take up the role as content editor. A former live news reporter, Tom, from Leek in Staffordshire, was highly commended in three categories in the Midlands Student Media Awards 2016 and won in the 'Emerging Talent' category at the O2 North West Media Awards 2018.

Sophie Drew, who has spent the last few years studying journalism in Liverpool, joins the team as trainee multimedia reporter. She grew up in Marlow and High Wycombe and says she is looking forward to covering the stories that matter most to her county.

Shazad Hussain completed his journalism training in the summer achieving the Gold standard. He is committed to sharing the stories of people that are often misrepresented and mis-portrayed, due to stereotypes, in the mainstream media. He wants to represent and increase the voices of those from Muslim and South Asian communities as well as other minority communities.

Emily Craigie completes the team. Her interest lies in politics and current affairs. She is also passionate about arts and culture. Before joining Buckinghamshire Live Emily was studying for her NCTJ diploma at News Associates. She also worked in communications for BBC News where she publicised programmes such as The Andrew Marr Show and Politics Live. Prior to this, she worked in communications for Unicef UK and as a parliamentary researcher for an MP in the House of Commons.

Editor Lucy Thorne said: “Buckinghamshire Live is a talented team who are passionate about representing the area’s vibrant communities. We will be offering readers a different perspective but also deliver fun, engaging, informative and inspiring stories from across the county. We will be bringing the biggest news stories to our readers but also the untold stories that make our communities what they are today.”
