Slimming World celebrates with gold foil cover

Slimming World celebrates its 100th issue this month.

Their November/December issue of the magazine is their biggest ever issue packed full of real life slimming stories, recipes and motivation-boosting features, say the publishers. Priced at £1.95 to group members and £2.75 in shops, the November/December issue was finished by Celloglas using Cellofoil gold on the masthead.

Emma Wild, Managing Editor at Slimming World, commented: “This is the first time we have finished our cover with a foil. We wanted to create a very special yet elegant cover to reflect the significant milestone of 100 issues. We had seen Celloglas finishing examples on a wide range of other magazine titles and chose gold foil to give the cover that extra sparkle and style.”

Initially available only in group, Slimming World magazine launched in January 1998. It hit news-stands in 1999 becoming the UK’s best-selling slimming title that same year. Fourteen years on and Slimming World magazine is still the best-selling slimming title in the UK, say the publishers.

Steve Middleton, Sales Director at Celloglas, added: “It was great to work with the team at Slimming World to create such a stunning cover with the Cellofoil service. The gold foiled title creates a striking impact against the dark background of the design. It shows how the foiling can create that something extra for special editions or anniversary issues in the publishing sector.”

Emma Wild added; “The cover looks spectacular and really signifies to readers that it’s an extra-special issue. The gold foiling creates such an eye-catching element to the cover that you couldn’t achieve through other processes.”

The landmark 100th issue includes a free 2013 food lovers’ calendar.
