TeamRock.com’s Competition to be A Budding Multi-media Journalist: winner announced

28 year old Dave Musson from Birmingham has been awarded first prize in TeamRock.com’s latest competition which encouraged the public to become budding multi-media music journalists.

To celebrate the launch of its new Classic Rock and Metal Hammer Digital Magazine Editions that went live on 16th July, TeamRock.com launched a competition, sponsored by Olympus for readers to review a festival/gig through multimedia – writing & photography.

On Wednesday night, at an exclusive party at the Olympus Image Space Gallery in London, Dave was announced as the winner. He receives £2,000 worth of Olympus Camera Equipment, a two-page feature with photos, of his “fantastic” review of 68, In Archives and Tortuga at The Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes, which will go into the September iPad issue of Metal Hammer and Classic Rock Magazine and a one-year subscription to the brand new Classic Rock iPad Edition.

Dave Musson said: "I'm delighted that the editors at TeamRock.com have seen something special in my work and it's a huge honour to win this competition. I've been reviewing and photographing bands for over ten years and attending gigs for nearly 20, but have never had my work recognised on this scale, so it really feels amazing!"

The second prize went to Duncan Everson, from Bath, for his review of Black Wolf, Jett Black and Winger at the O2 Academy in Bristol. He walked away with £1,000 worth of Olympus Camera Equipment, a one page feature with photos in the September iPad issue and a one-year subscription to the brand new Classic Rock iPad Edition.

Third place went to Bristol Photography Student, David Gilmour, for his great review on the 2014 2000 Trees Festival. David received £500 worth of Olympus Camera Equipment, a half-page feature with photos in the September iPad issue and a one-year subscription to the brand new Classic Rock iPad Edition.

The judging Panel included TeamRock.com’s Editorial Director Scott Rowley, Editor in Chief Alexander Milas and Creative Director Brad Merrett.

On making the decision, Editorial Director Scott Rowley said: “There’s probably never been as many people writing about music or photographing bands than there is today. Finding people who can do both is no mean feat. Dave’s review had all the in-depth knowledge and enthusiasm required, while his photography took you right to the heart of the action. Well done to him and all our finalists.”
