The Telegraph Enhances Weekend Products, Launching New Format Saturday Magazine

The Telegraph is relaunching its Saturday magazine on January 29 in a bigger format with an improved quality cover and, say the publishers, even more of the best Telegraph journalism.

The Telegraph Enhances Weekend Products, Launching New Format Saturday Magazine

The magazine will feature star writers including Mick Brown, Harry De Quetteville, Guy Kelly and Gordon Rayner alongside popular columnists Richard Madeley, Victoria Moore, Lisa Armstrong, William Sitwell and Sonia Haria. In addition, there’s a new column ‘What Is 60 For?’ by Jan Masters and the Diana Henry, who will sit alongside Mark Hix in a Food & Drink pull-out.

The change is one of a series across the weekend, which will see the Sunday Telegraph launch a weekly puzzles section – an eight page broadsheet pull-out including brain-training puzzles, an expanded selection of children’s puzzles along with a host of other new challenges. The Saturday Telegraph will also get a new weekly puzzles pull-out running at four broadsheet pages including such reader favourites as Battleships.

According to the Telegraph: “These weekend changes follow extensive reader research and reflect the needs and interests of our growing community of subscribers, as well as altered reading habits. In 2021 our total subscriptions surpassed a record 720,000 across digital and print, pulling away further from our competitors.

“These developments, combined with an investment in 32 new newsroom roles in 2022 will help our continued subscription growth as we move towards our target of 1 million subscriptions in 2023.”

The Saturday improvements follow the extension of the comment and features pages in the Saturday main paper last September, which saw the return of the Way of the World column and Peterborough as well as the Bryony Gordon interview and launch of the Camilla Tominey column.

From January 30, in addition to the new puzzles section, the Sunday Telegraph comment and features section will also be enhanced with a new weekly news review long-read and a new weekly interview slot.

The Telegraph also announced that its Sunday magazine, Stella, will cease to be published as a standalone magazine from January 30 but will continue in print, online and with a programme of Stella Live events for 2022.
